NEW COMICS WEDNESDAY!
Ninja Turtles, Eldritch Horrors, and what is ahead for the Major Spoilers Podcast in 2026
’Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house… not a creature was stirring because we all went out to buy comic books!
If you only buy ONE thing this week…
H.P. Lovecraft’s The Shadow Out of Time (Manga)
(Dark Horse)
https://amzn.to/4sboebL
As you know, I’m a fan of the cosmic horror writings of H.P. Lovecraft (his racist screeds, not so much). At Dark Horse Comics, Gou Tanabe has been adapting the pulp tales in manga form and … whew… these books are creepy as heck. The Shadow Out of Time introduces the Great Race of Yith, and if you ever wanted to feel helpless and creeped out in the best possible way… this is your book.

My Pull List
My new comic book pile continues to grow and grow and grow… but here’s what I’m genuinely excited to read this week.
Power Rangers #13
(BOOM! Studios)
https://amzn.to/3YbKlRP
The series is racing toward its epic conclusion in April, but right now it feels like everything is coming to a head - the team is split, alliances are strained, and I can’t wait to see how they come back together. I’ve been a casual Power Rangers reader over the years, but I want to be here for the end.
Also: I’m extremely curious what BOOM! Studios and Hasbro will do after this wraps. As soon as I know, you’ll know.
Radiant Black #39
(Image Comics)
https://amzn.to/49paNxE
I’ve loved this series since issue #1, and Kyle Higgins continues to weave this tale of a collapsed multiverse - and the strange, unsettling ripple effects for the people who remember who Marshall was on the other side.
This is not the best jumping-on issue, but if you’ve been looking for a good excuse to binge a series, here it is! Go out and buy the back issues as a holiday gift to yourself. You deserve it, dear Spoilerite.
Also on the Pile…
I’m still way behind on DC’s Absolute series (I know, I know), but I’m determined to catch up soon - so those new issues are absolutely joining my pile. DC Comics is taking some big swings lately, first with the Absolute series and now with DC K.O. And it’s hard not to think back to that Diane Nelson philosophy from years ago - there’s “no insistence upon an overall storyline or interconnectivity.” That’s the vibe I’m getting here: stop treating continuity like a cage and let creators take big, bold shots. If you’re ready for “Ultimate DC Comics,” the Absolute line is for you.
Also making the cut: Amazing Spider-Man #18 from Marvel Comics - because who doesn’t love that web-head?
And if nostalgia is your thing, One Press has Biker Mice from Mars #7, part of the Nacelle Universe for those of us who grew up with the cartoon.
On the Major Spoilers Podcast this week, I review Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Battle Nexus #1 from IDW Publishing (https://amzn.to/4sbRrDB). It sounds exactly as you expect… and honestly, it kind of reads that way too.
Speaking of the Major Spoilers Podcast…
As you may have seen, we have a new home! While we continue to get our footing, this section of the newsletter remains free to everyone.
The move also means our podcast feeds are finding a new home. After the first of the year, we’ll have redirects in place pointing to our new RSS feeds at Libsyn. I’ve been on the phone with Libsyn support (who we love), our previous hosting provider (who we are not very fond of), and other consultants to make sure the transition is as smooth as possible.

Before I run…
My pocketbook is still in shock over the cost of prime rib for Christmas morning, and I need to get this sucker on the smoker so we have something to eat tomorrow.
